Hair Extensions Are Not Going to Make You Prettier

I have struggled with my self-esteem for pretty much my whole life. I think most people struggle with this in some way or another. But I think this is definitely my biggest weakness. When I was pregnant with my first child, I had very unrealistic expectations about what my body would look like after giving birth. I had many people tell me comments like this: "You're so young, you will bounce right back...Breastfeeding makes you lose tons of weight...You might even be skinnier than before you were pregnant!...Eat whatever you want, you are eating for two now!" Do you see how contradicting … [Read more...]

Homemade Baby Food

When I had my first baby, I made most of his baby food homemade. As I have mentioned before, I had a lot of free time during his naps. When I was pregnant with my second child, I told myself I wasn't going to have time to make homemade baby food for this baby, so I didn't even bother trying when it came time to start feeding her solid foods. However, one day I was feeding her Gerber apples. She didn't really seem to like them. I smelt them and I was disgusted! You would think that applesauce would be one of the yummiest baby foods out there! I tried a bite, and sure enough, it … [Read more...]

Enjoy the Little Moments

Over the summer, my younger siblings came to visit. We went to my sister-in-law's house (my sister-in-law was out of town) and played on her giant, blow-up water slide. Ari was about 3 months old and Lucas was 2 1/2 years old. Ari needed to go down for a nap, so after I got the kids situated and started their water slide, I went and put Ari down for a nap in one of the bedrooms. I didn't have my baby monitor, so I had to keep on going back inside every 5 minutes to check on her. When they are this young you never know how long they are going to sleep, and I didn't want her to be scared waking … [Read more...]

Healthier Toddler Meal Ideas

My three year old is not a huge eater. However, I still always try to serve him healthy, balanced meals and make sure he eats a variety of protein, fruits, veggies, healthy fats, and grains. Through trial and error I have found a few healthy meals that I know he will always eat. Every toddler is different, obviously, but I wanted to share what I have found to be successful. These are all quick, easy, and cheap meal ideas that you can whip up for breakfast and lunch. Who has time to cook during the day? I don't even like to cook dinner once a day, let alone for all three … [Read more...]

10 Things I’ve Learned During My 3 Short Years of Marriage

I have only been married for 3 1/2 short years, so I do not want to sound like I am some kind of marriage expert! But, obviously my husband and I have done one or two things right because we are still together, we haven't killed each other, and I think we have a pretty great marriage! We got married quickly and had a baby quickly, which can sometimes make for a rough start, but I know that everything happened exactly the way it was supposed to and I am with the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. So, here are a few tips that I think have helped make our marriage great: 1) … [Read more...]

To Moms with Newborns

After I had my second child, it took me a while to adjust to having two children. (Obviously, since I have taken a 9 month maternity leave from my blog!) Before I had baby #2, my first child, who was almost 2 ½, was my whole world. I absolutely adored him. I was a stay at home mom, and although I was going to school, most of my time was spent with him. I could do homework, clean my house, and even prep dinner during his nap time. When he was awake, I gave a lot of one-on-one attention to him. I even wrote an article about how I was worried I wouldn’t be able to love my second child … [Read more...]

Lucas’ Lyme Experience (He is going to be okay!)

Last Sunday, June 7th, we went on a walk down Maeser Canal. We all got bug bites and I didn't think much of them, assuming they were just mosquito bites. Yesterday (10 days later) I noticed that the spot where he had a bug bite now had a bull's eye appearance. He also had two similar looking rashes on the back of his neck. I had seen this post on Facebook a few weeks earlier, so I knew this was a problem that needed to be addressed. We went to the doctor that morning. The doctor really didn't know what to do because he said that we don't have Lyme in Utah, but it definitely looks … [Read more...]

Workouts coming soon!

I have had a lot of people look at my workout page and I feel terrible that there is nothing on here yet! I started my blog at 38 weeks pregnant. At the time I wasn't doing much for exercise other than walking, the elliptical, and some basic body- weight lifting. So, I didn't think it was worth sharing! But, I only have two more weeks until I can start exercising again and then I will be posting some great stuff! Get ready to train for a half marathon with me just in time for summer :) I will also be posting some of my favorite crossfit workouts! … [Read more...]

Sweet Potato Chipotle Chicken Casserole

First of all, sorry about the crappy photo! I took it with my phone. I really don't have a desire to learn how to use my fancy camera yet. But maybe one day I will, and then I will actually  have decent looking pictures on my blog :) I have been terrible at posting on my blog! I have been loving on my kids and trying to find balance as a mom of two. I am currently writing a post on finding balance, but it is not quite ready! I wanted to share this recipe though because it is too good not to share. Sweet Potato Chipotle Chicken Casserole. How's that for the title of a recipe?! Those … [Read more...]

I Chose a C-Section: Ari’s Birth Story

I love this photo! It makes me want to cry tears of joy every time I see it. Even though I didn't have the labor I was hoping for originally, my delivery of Ari was so meaningful to me. I look at this picture and I remember the happiness I felt. I had two very different experiences with the births of my two children, but overall, it doesn't matter how our children come into this world. We love them all unconditionally and every experience is unforgettable and beautiful. With my first son, Lucas, I went into the hospital on my due date expecting to have a baby in a few … [Read more...]
