Slow Cook Paleo Orange Chicken

The perfect weeknight meal with a bang! Fast, easy, and healthy.

I have been hesitant to post more recipes because I need to learn how to use my fancy camera! But, this will do for now ๐Ÿ™‚

I LOVE anything I can make in the slow cooker-especially when it’s also healthy! It is so easy and time saving. I don’t follow the paleo diet strictly, but I like a lot of paleo recipes because I can count on them to be healthy.

This chicken has a bang! It has the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. My two year old gobbled all of it up, but he has also been known to eat toothpaste out of the tube; so if your family doesn’t prefer spicy foods, omit some of the red pepper flakes.ย  I served mine over brown rice, but it would also be great over quinoa. I try to use quinoa in place of brown rice as much as I can because of the nutritional benefits in quinoa, but sometimes I just miss the taste of rice!


  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1/3 c. coconut aminos (a healthy substitute to Soy Sauce)
  • 1/3 c. honey
  • 2 tbls. orange juice
  • 2 tbls. tomato paste
  • 2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 3/4 tsp. sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes (or less if your family prefers non-spicy foods)
  • 1 tbls. sesame seeds for garnish


Place the chicken in the crock pot and turn on low heat. Mix all of the remaining ingredients(except for the sesame seeds) in a bowl and pour over chicken. Cook on low for 4 hours. Remove the chicken and cut into 1 inch pieces. Take the sauce that was in the crockpot and transfer to a small sauce pan. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens. Pour over your chicken and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve over brown rice or quinoa.
